Artist Statement

I create new forms out of the library of the subconscious.

My painting practice is based on figuration in a way that conflates the actions of an abstract painter with the concerns of a figurative painter. I consider my individuality due to my process and the expression of memory, time and consciousness. My practice involves element of chance and when I begin a painting I do not have a preconceived idea of the outcome. So, my process depends on a state of involvement of the self, allowing imagination and memory to develop the images and enable them to emerge with as little restrictive and critical thought as possible.
